A Taste of Campania Food and Culture Tour

A Taste of Campania Food and Culture Tour | Celebrating Local Food, Farms, and Artisans – Overview

Come join us on a 9-day long celebration of the food, wine, and culture of Naples and the incredible edible Campania region. During our time together you will be immersed in local Italian living as we explore Naples and the pretty, picturesque villages and must see attractions that dot the beautiful stretches of Campania’s landscape. We will visit farms and food producers, and meet the local artisans, all the while exploring the local food ways and farming traditions from the field to the table in our special corner of Italy’s south. Our community of friends and neighbors will become yours as you learn about and taste the local specialty food products; buffalo milk mozzarella, cow’s milk cheeses of all sorts, San Marzano tomatoes, cured meats, organic olive oils, marmalades, and honey, limoncello (Sorrento’s famed lemon liquor), and so on. We will learn about, taste, and bake some of the Campania region’s most popular desserts, such as sfogliatella, babà, and torta caprese, and explore the lively Neapolitan street food culture and food markets. We will tour a well-known winery to sip and savor some of the Campania region’s premier wines, and also enjoy a tasting at a craft brewery of some of Italy’s premier beers. We will enjoy lunches and dinners at charming trattorias and restaurants, as well as casual al fresco dining, picnics and barbecues, in the pretty green fields of the countryside and by the sea. We’ll get wrist deep in pasta dough as we learn about the local cooking methods and traditions, and craft memorable meals together that celebrate the given season, the freshness of the fields at the moment, and artisanal food—from Ravioli alla Caprese (homemade cheese filled ravioli from the island of Capri) —to Parmigiana di Melanzane (eggplant Parmigiana) —to Gnocchi di Patate alla Sorrentina (homemade potato dumplings with fresh tomato sauce, mozzarella, Parmigiano, and basil, Sorrento Style) —to Vera Pizza Napoletana (true Neapolitan wood-fired pizza).

We will stay in two accommodations —a charming boutique hotel in the heart of Sorrento and a beautifully restored farmhouse set on the hills of Sorrento in an oasis of tranquility, with spectacular vistas of the countryside to the Tyrrhenian sea (with elegantly furnished rooms with private bathrooms and air conditioning).
