Da Teresa | Best Beach Restaurant in Amalfi

Da Teresa Restaurant in Amalfi

A fast and scenic boat ride from Amalfi’s port lies Ristorante Da Teresa, one of my favorite beachside restaurants and bathing establishments on the Amalfi Coast. If you are looking to escape the frenzy of the city’s center for a while, dine on exceptional fish and seafood, and enjoy the relaxing lifestyle of the Amalfi Coast, this is an idyllic place to go.

Ristorante Da Teresa is located on Santa Croce beach, a stunningly beautiful natural setting to indulge your senses, with its crystal blue water and magnificent high cliffs —and discover the taste of the Amalfi Coast.

When visiting for lunch we usually plan to spend some time on the beach on either end of the meal, or even a little bit of both. We like to relax and soak up the sun, swim and refresh in the sea, and many times even jump start our meal at water’s edge; sip a little chilled white wine with sliced peaches and nibble on some light, tasty antipasti, like bruschette al pomodoro —thin slices of crusty bread topped with a refreshing chopped tomato salad, and frittelle di algae —little fried dough balls speckled with seaweed, which are one of my son’s absolute favorite beach snacks.

It’s always a lovely time, even if we skip the beach and venture straight into the restaurant, where one is greeted into the open, easy and breezy style dining room by a very-friendly staff and a stellar display of the freshest of fish and seafood brought directly into the restaurant from the nearby waters by the local fishermen. The views are spectacular, under the shining sun and romantic moon and stars.

The menu features an appealing selection of popular local specialties, with a focus on the locally-caught fish and seafood, as well as seasonal vegetables. To begin the meal, try one of the delicate anchovy dishes, like the parmigiana di alici (anchovy parmesan), which is not only delicious but beautiful to look at as well.

Or, for a light and refreshing taste of the sea, try the insalata di mare (cold fresh seafood salad), which with one bite will have you wondering why it’s always the food in its purest form that is always so darn good.

For the first course, the tubetti con totani (small tube pasta with flying squid and an extra juicy tomato sauce) and the scialatielli ai fruitti di mare (homemade pasta with an assortment of shellfish) are always great choices…

as is the risotto alla pescatora (seafood risotto, fisherman style), which explodes with bold, exciting seafood flavor—making every forkful an absolute delight.

For the second course, choose one of the showcased catch of the day, and ask the waiter for the best cooking suggestions for the fish. Other popular selections are the mixed fried fish and seafood platter and the totani e patate (stewed flying squid and potatoes)  – all delicious and immensely satisfying tastes of the Amalfi Coast.

Dessert-wise, I recommend anything that features lemons as the main ingredient, like the dolce al limone  (lemon sponge cake), or my personal favorite, the giant frozen lemons filled with sorbet made with the world-renowned lemons from the Amalfi Coast. They are refreshing and perfectly sweet, a great top-off to the meal and palate cleanser as well.

 Boat Shuttle Service

The free shuttle service leaves the port in Amalfi from 9 am on, every 30 minutes. And returns, from 4 pm on…And, if customers would like to return sooner, no need to fret, there’s always a boat en-route to jump on.

Here’s a quick video of the beautiful panorama one experiences during the brief, but memorable voyage. Buon Appetito friends, and hope you enjoy the taste of the Amalfi Coast
